4th ave street fair
it was fun at the fair today. come and see me tomorrow
wow - i guess i have been more than remiss... to update on the paste many months - i am no longer a research scientist at the university of arizona. i am now a full time photographer. i have done six street/art fairs this fall to varying success. this weekend is the last for the year - 4th avenue in tucson. i will be between 7th and 8t across from bison wiches.
check out my newest work at new images
well it has been forever since i posted my first blog, and i kept saying - just go write a word or two - let your millions of fans know what is happening in your life. but never never did it - why not - who knows...
so anyway - this is what has gone on - on feb 18, i hung 13 prints and placed a bunch of matted prints and cards in the old town pot shop and gallery in downtown tucson - a store near the art museum that gets a lot of tourist traffic. i got a call on march 2nd - and the manager had a customer who wanted to buy a 12x18 matted (not framed) copy of my abstract image of a
mexican blue oak. they only had a framed 12x18 at the store and the woman wanted to know if i could get a copy to her before she went back home. i replied that i would have to check my inventory. then a couple minutes later - dave called me back and told me the customer decided to buy the framed copy instead. yea was my response - i knew that another total stranger had purchased a print of mine. i put some links to new pictures up soon...
spring break was not quite the trip that chris (my wife) and i had hoped. we both ended up with head colds (which we attributed to my mother-in-law!) which sent us scurrying to kanab utah for a hotel room (camping is not much fun when you're sick) . we also spent a whole day in the back of the truck - again - not much fun. did meet a cool couple - susan and steve dobson who run the paria outpost and outfitters. we took a trip out to some pretty cool rock formations with steve and his client guy (from quebec).
when i got back i found my first check from old town pot shop in the mail and the realization that i sold 3 8x12 and 1 5x7 matted prints and 4 greeting cards - in less than 2 weeks - not too bad i felt.
i'll go ahead and update a bit more later - but i need to get to work getting ready for next weekend's tempe festival of the arts. if you are in the phoenix/tempe area - come see me at booth #1335 on mill avenue between 6th and 7th streets!
